Product Description

LED – Compact, space-saving and energy efficient lightbulbs.

Crompton Lamps

Crompton Lamps is one of the oldest lamp businesses in the world, founded in 1878 by the late Colonel Crompton, an entrepreneur with an interest in electricity. He designed and installed some of the earliest recorded electric lighting installations at buildings such as Windsor Castle and Holyrood Palace.

Today we have a strong business with core values and we believe that we have talent, infrastructure and the commitment to serve our customers to the highest standards.

LED Golfball Light Bulbs

LED Golfball Light Bulbs are renowned for their compact, space-saving spherical shape. Golfball light bulbs can be found in decorative fixtures and table lamps.

LED Golfball Light Bulbs are a great alternative to incandescent or halogen golfball shaped light bulbs and are energy-efficient, last longer, and are cheap to run.

We can provide you with a variety of LED Golfball bulbs in different cap types including ES, BC, SBC.

Like their name suggests, golfball light bulbs are small, round light bulbs designed for use in more decorative fixtures, or where space is at a premium.

They are most commonly seen in smaller desk lamps or wall lights and are sometimes referred to as ‘round’ light bulbs (although this can be quite an ambiguous term when it comes to light bulbs).

As golfball light bulbs are used in a variety of fittings, there are many different styles and bases available. They are commonly fitted with either a B22d bayonet cap (sometimes abbreviated to BC), or an E27 Edison screw (ES) base. The B22d cap is the ‘push and twist’ type of fitting that is used on the majority of lamps in the UK, while the E27 is the screw-in type that is more common in Europe and the US.

Other types of base include B15 small bayonet cap (SBC) and E14 small Edison screw (SES). These are simply smaller versions of bayonet and Edison caps, used primarily on smaller lamps and fittings.

Golfball light bulbs are quite distinctive as the light bulb is often not much larger than its base. Think of a golfball sat on a very wide tee. It is easy to confuse golfball light bulbs with GLS light bulbs when shopping online, as they can sometimes look quite similar when viewed on a web page.

The CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) light bulb was the early replacement for high-energy light bulbs, but they often don’t look like their incandescent counterparts. It is instead a narrow fluorescent tube that is turned into a compact shape (hence its name). It is designed to be a direct, energy-saving replacement, so it is compatible with existing fittings, but it looks completely different.

As golfball light bulbs are so small, there are fewer CFL equivalents. LED golfball light bulbs, however, have been designed to look like the incandescent light bulbs they supersede. They have the classic golfball shape and as the technology develops, they are beginning to look more like traditional light bulbs.

These will often be opaque (sometimes described as ‘pearl’ or ‘opal’) and they are made out of glass or heat-resistant thermal plastic. Many have a white plastic base to hide the light bulb’s componentry, but there are now models available that are completely transparent.

Look out for the distinctive yellow ‘filaments’ of these LED light bulbs, designed to mimic the filaments of the traditional incandescent light bulbs.

Crompton Lamps LED Golfball Filament Clear

For those of you already lamenting the demise of these incandescent light bulbs – never fear. Their enduring popularity led us to develop this new range of LED equivalents.

Each light bulb in the range delivers form and function equally with the same gorgeous, retro styling no longer stymied by the restraints of outdated filament technology.

The tungsten filaments found in the older light bulbs have now given way to four LED filaments, resulting in a gorgeous, traditional aesthetic that belies the light bulb’s ultra-modern specification. These filaments, albeit similar in appearance, are much more efficient and robust than their traditional counterparts. Where a traditional light bulb might use approximately 60W to produce 806 lumens, the modern equivalent uses just 6.5W. This – coupled with the light bulb’s vastly superior nominal lifetime – has the potential to reduce lighting bills by up to 90%.

Crompton Lamps LED Golfball Opal

Named for their close resemblance to the golfball, these round LED light bulbs are designed as a direct retrofit replacement for your inefficient and old-fashioned incandescent light bulbs.

They consume less power but produce light of an equal intensity and brightness to that of a filament light bulb, representing a substantial saving both in terms of energy and financial cost. Combine this notable efficiency with the savings gleaned from superior longevity and negligible replacement costs, and each light bulb has the potential to reduce your lighting bill by up to 90%.

Even though the heat produced by LED light bulbs is minimal when compared to incandescent versions, each of these golfball LED light bulbs sports a lightweight thermal plastic shell that is specifically designed to dissipate heat more effectively than existing materials. This reduces the light bulb’s running temperature and places less strain on its components, thereby extending its lifetime yet further.

Crompton Lamps LED Golfball Filament Pearl

This dimmable LED golfball pearl light bulb is part of a wider decorative range that has been developed by us as a means of replacing traditional incandescent light bulbs.

The LEDs are arranged in a series filament arrangement, allowing true omni-directional light output.

Features DuoDim Technology: Compatible with both leading and trailing edge dimmers.

Introducing Harlequin Colour Range

These coloured decorative golfball light bulbs are designed to replace traditional 25W incandescent Harlequin round light bulbs.

As they are LED light bulbs, their wattage is much lower than their incandescent counterparts.

These are special purpose decorative light bulbs, ideal for decorative light strings, Christmas lights, or entertainment and hospitality areas. They are internally coated, so offer a vibrant, fade-resistant colour. The LED golfball light bulbs have an average rated life of 15,000 hours and have an IP65 rating, meaning they are long-lasting and suitable for outdoor use.

They are available with either the ES-E27 Edison screw (27mm) or the BC-B22d bayonet (22mm) cap will retrofit to existing light fittings, making it easy to replace your old light bulbs.

IP65 rated for outdoor use. Instant full light. Fade resistant internal coating. Not suitable for dimming.
